In this monthly post we ask our members to submit their favourite street photograph that they shot during the previous month. As well as submitting their image, they also let the viewers know as to why it was their particular favourite by including the reason(s) behind their choice. Fujifilm X70 - ƒ/4.5 - 18.5 mm - 1/320 - ISO 400 - Salisbury, UK
This was easy to pick as my shot of the month. I was on a photo walkabout when I saw this woman from the corner of my eye. A real decisive moment shot as a few seconds later she had stopped fiddling with her ring finger and the thousand yard stare had gone.

I loved this building with it’s colours and lines. With that name (Gemini is the sign of the twins) I immediately thought I needed to catch two people walking past it. I looked up and could see these two men walking along the path towards me. So I did a very unusual thing for me, I loitered in order to wait for them to walk past the building. I took 3 photos and luckily in this one they were perfectly in step. One final reason, I’m a Gemini.

    Panasonic DMC-TZ60 - ƒ/3.3 - 4.3 mm - 1/640 - ISO 160 - London, UK.

The reason I’ve chosen this shot is it makes me smile each time I see it. It’s not particularly well taken but does capture a lovely moment between friends…and I’d love to know what’s on the phone screen to cause such hilarity.

    Ricoh GR - 18.3 mm f/2.8 - ƒ/7.1 - 18.3 mm - 1/350 - ISO 400 - Bispingen, Germany.

Everytime I go out shooting street there is always one image that I can’t wait to get up on the computer screen to have a closer look at…..and this was the one. I’m always on the look out for quirky compositions, the sort of thing that you wouldn’t see on a daily basis. There’s not much street/urban orientated backgrounds or scenes when walking around a car boot sale, so my plan is to get close in my subjects to try and capture a story or interesting image.
I do enjoy a good close up hand shot but to have an element of eye contact too at that level was just irresistible. I took a few shots from different angles to get the LP cover just right so that it looked as if he was peeking around the corner. Definitely my fave of the month.

    Olympus E-M5 - OLYMPUS M.40-150mm F4.0-5.6 R - ƒ/4.8 - 85.0 mm - 1/200 - ISO 250 - France.

One of my favorites of August for the “old school” atmosphere : a book, a young woman under a tree, wearing a “non-fashionable” but nice dress, and the famous french car, the Renault 4L… street photography can be found not only in big towns but also in the countryside.
